Steak was the best I've ever had, prepared perfectly. Our server was fantastic and even saved us some money by suggesting that we share two side dishes rather than allowing us to purchase more than we could eat. Atmosphere can be a little noisy, but everything else is great. Excellent martinis too! :-) Would definitely go back.

This is a very smart dining spot. The steaks were some of the best we have had that fit into the category of high end/expensive. The side dishes were delicious and the waitress was very professional. We sat inside due to weather conditions and were very fortunate to be seated in the back because the noise levels are VERY high and could spoil the evening if diners actually want to have a conversation. Highly recommended.

Good steak... I loved the tater tots!! Plenty of Gluten free choices! A beautiful and trendy decor. Great date or business meeting spot. Owned and operated by Stephen Star from Philly who owns my favorit Mexican spot El Vez.

Being that Steak 954 is located within a W Hotel you often worry about how stuck-up the venue might be. Rest assured the times I've been to Steak 954 has been nothing shy of wonderful. To top it off, I don't eat red meat but love this place. Any meal needs to start with their seafood plate for 2 or 4. While the price is a bit steep the seafood is amazing. Any entree should be ordered with their truffle potatoes - amazing! You can't go wrong with Steak 954.

Went here for a birthday brunch yesterday. I was very impressed. The view of Fort Lauderdale beach is amazing, and I loved the jellyfish tank. The service was excellent and the food was very good. My girlfriend got the short rib Benedict that was amazing. Finally, I was surprised that price was a lot lower than I expected (most items on the brunch menu were in the $10-15 range).

Stayed at the W for a few nights and visited "954" for both dinner and brunch. Btw - Still mesmerized by the jellyfish tank. Dinner was solid. We actually decided to forgo a table in the dining room and did our own tapas style dining scenario in the lounge area by the bar. Service was really friendly, knowledgeable and outgoing. I really enjoyed our experience and will visit again next time I'm at the hotel. Brunch was a little bit of a different scenario. The waiter was not polished nor was the bus staff that continuously forgot to replace silver or share plates. The bar seemed to be slammed that morning since our drinks took forever and then arrived way too spicy to consume. However, the management became aware of the situation and took a preemptive strike to rectify the situation for which reason I am giving these two visits a combined total of three stars and my recommendation to definitely try 954 for both dinner and brunch.

Ka-POW! A solid 4 stars, however very expensive thus for us, the value was eh. Beautiful restaurant, typical Stephen Starr. Shared a tall Seafood appetizer. Superb oysters, small amount of crab meat, 3 medium shrimp, small amount of King Crab claws cracked, and some other sort of seafood salad which I could not identify. I don't think the value was there for 58 dollars. Cesare Salad was lacking flavor. Wedge Salad was enjoyed by Lips. The dry aged NY strip was outstanding, cooked properly, nice flavor. Porterhouse according to LIPS was good but lacking a bit of flavor. No dessert. 2 drinks. Total including tip came to 260 dollars for 2. Very expensive in my opinion. I would go to other establishments before coming back here. The value just wasn't here.

SERVICE... 5 stars ATMOSPHERE...5 stars ....but that's where it ends. Maybe I was expecting too much....but 4 people and $550.00 later (we ordered bottles).....you expect one thing from a steakhouse above everything else....GREAT STEAK. I ordered the Ribeye....my wife the Filet............and our guests tried the ribeye and lobster. We all left the table feeling the food was..... ok. The Ribeye was rubbery......I was expecting (at least) something like Morton's... Ruth's Chris....but the flavor was just ok. Regarding atmosphere and service.....amazing. We sat outside overlooking the ocean....the staff did everything right. I'd go back for the atmosphere and try some appetizers...but if I'm craving Steak......I prefer Trulucks, Mortons....and even Ruth's Chris. (I haven't been to Prime 112 in Miami yet......but that's supposed to be the best steakhouse period....) we'll see. Disappointing....... 954 did everything right....except for the food.

Steak 954 is so far the "restaurant of the year" as far as I am concerned. If you like Prime 112 in Miami but dont feel like taking the ride try 954 Steak. Chic, hot crowd, great food, with a cool atmosphere and great service - it rocks. Not a salad guy but the salad was terrific. The Filet Mignon was excellent as were all the sides especially the spinach and hash brown style potatoes. And for all this greatness you will pay. For 8 of us with a few drinks the bill exceeded $800 but I got to say it was worth it. One of my new favorite restaurants in Florida. See you there!

This is such a great restaurant. The food is great the service is amazing and the ambiance is perfect. Suggestions: The Lobster Bisque is very flavorful and just the right amount of salt. The Tuna Tacos are so good the flavor stays with you and just want more than the 3 it brings. I recommend they increase it to 4 so you dont have to share the last one. The 8oz Kobe Filet served Rare Plus just melts in your mouth. What a great piece of steak. The creamy spinach is exactly what creamy spinach should taste like they cook it with nutmeg and you just cant have enough. The sides are suppose to be family style but they are very small I suggest one per person. The Truffle Potato Gratin was so yummy. And Lastly was the Baked Alaska what a fun and great dessert. Overall I cant say enough about the service and food and experience it was worth it. I would recommend it to someone who enjoys a great meal.

We went to Steak 954 to celebrate my birthday. We started off with the crabcake appetizer and for our entre we both had the filet. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. We had the truffle potatoes gratin and asparagus for our sides. I wasn't crazy about the potatoes, but the filet more than made up for that. Overall, the food was fantastic, the service was great and decor was also wonderful. The tank with the jelly fish is awesome to look at. The only one small complaint that I have is that is seems very noisy inside.

Has some brunch before a flight on Sunday after a business trip. Brought the lovely wife along for company and had a delicious seafood tower( $27/pp but worth it) and their best bang for buck - $9.54 burger with onion jam and truffle fires. Right on the beach we sat and enjoyed the crowds and view. Put a nice end to a kind of sucky trip. Ft Lauderdale is a very interesting place I must say.

We went there the other night for dinner with 10 people. The space is elegant and edgy. They have a jellyfish aquarium. The food was excellent. All the meat is good. The veal chop was perfect, just the bone remained. The wedge app was very good. We just had lunch there today and the sliders were good . Also the short rib empanadas, yummy. It is in the W, the best hotel in Fort lauderdale, by a long shot.

On a recent stay at the W Fort Lauderdale while visiting family, we had the opportunity to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Steak 954. All were excellent; as an added bonus, the breakfast and lunch were also very reasonably priced. Specific dishes to recommend include the shortrib sandwich for lunch, the big eye tuna and foie gras tacos (as many have noted) at lunch or dinner, and the duck for dinner, which was perfectly medium rare. The steaks are of course well-regarded. The restaurant is very well-designed and lit, with a huge jellyfish aquarium that is partially echoed in aspects of the lobby upstairs. Finally, the Sebastian cocktail is highly recommended for those tired of sweet, sugary, and tropical drinks and wanting a bit more kick.

K Steak 954- went there with some friends last Thursday night. First problem is that there is a bit of arrogance with the management & staff of this place. My friend made reservations several days before and wanted to secure a table outside. This was promised to her by whomever she spoke with on the phone. We get there only to be told 'sorry, no tables available outside at this time.' No attempt on the managers part to rectify the situation other than to offer us a table when it came available (defeating the purpose of making a reservation). On to the food & service. We ordered some starters in the form of fish tacos with fois gras, crab&lobster ceviche and shrimp cocktail. All very good. Me&one of the friends I was with ordered steak, both ordered them to be cooked medium. When the steaks got there, they were most defintely cooked beyone medium (almost well done, mind you). We alerted the waiter to this fact and he proceeded to argue with me that my steak was indeed cooked medium. Couldn't believe this. Waiter was beyond friendly up to this point but then his demeanor totally changed after the steak incident. They were nice enough to give us dessert on the house. I am taking one star away from my review due to the overall arrogance of the management & staff that was displayed during my visit. For the money we spent there, you would think they'd be a little bit more accomodating. Overall, though a pretty good experience with pretty good food.

We went to Steak 954 to celebrate my wife's Birthday. The service was very good. Also, the food was delicious, I just wish there was more of it. Some of the portions were a little on the small side and were not consistent. All four of us in the party ordered the Miso Cod, but they were all different sizes. The menu had a nice variety, but everything was a la carte. The atmosphere is nice, located at the W hotel. I would go back to try it again.

My husband and I attempted to have a lovely dining experience on March 23rd. OUr waiter opened a beer for my husband that spilled all over me. I had to ask for napkins and tell the waiter that my clothing was wet..Our wait for the entree was about 55 minutes. My hiusband's duck selection was cold and he sent it back to the kitchen. My NY strip steak ..ordered med. rare arrived cold and past medium. The waiter took the steak back, leaving the hash browns and no apology. The best was yet to come..a manager returned with the steak I had already said was overcooked and told me the steak had been placed under the broiler to "heat it up". I said it will be cooked even more and the manager said " it just warmed it and if you cut into the middle you will see that it is medium rare...I kid you not..I blew a fuse and he removed the steak and brought one "that was ready for another table" . The original hash browns were now tempid at best .He said that he would take care of the tab..we wanted good service and proper food preparation..not a free meal after more than 90 miutes of waiting..A gracious apology, an offer of dessert or a drink and certainly not a crazy attempt to tell me that putting meat under a broiler only warms it and the original cooking of medium rare would be intact would have been grand. The place is too full of itself..poor service and an attitude of the customer doesn't know what is best is not a good recipe for success.

The food was incredible....The rest was so-so. Valet parking was an experience. I not only had to ask for a valet ticket, no one gave any direction on where to go (in the hotel). The she-she atmosphere is very trendy and I expect it will be remodeled soon as the style is fading fast. I still can't explain the cheap looking wicker basket chandeliers in the dining room. The jelly fish tank was an incredible concept and well executed. A little bit more color would have been nice. The noise was horrible. There is not one surface that sound does not bounce off. Bees in a spin dryer would have been more pleasant. If you are looking for a quiet intimate dining experience, this is NOT the place. The service was good but not white glove which is what you would expect for the price. I was a little put off when the server asked for my valet ticket and charged the valet cost to the bill. Would have been nice to have been told the charge was being added to the bill instead of having to figure it out yourself. I would have expected free valet for the $200.00 we dropped at dinner for 2. The $31 - $50 estimate, per person, for food is not accurate. Everything is alacarte and pricey. Probably not a place I will patronize again. There may not be better food at other establishments, but there are better overall experiences in Ft. Lauderdale.

awesome food, and the jelly fish tank is SUPER SWEET to look at while you are eating or waiting for your table. I meals are expensive but what do you expect for Kobe beef? We went for my brothers graduation dinner. The food is filling, and the scene is trendy. They also have my favorite wine: Mer Soleil! When we ordered the pumpkin souffle for desert the first time they made it, it fell (evidently it never falls there) and so we were brought free gourmet ice cream sandwiches while we waited. When the souffle got there it was one of the best desserts I have ever had. (We tried all the desserts and the ice cream sandwiches and souffle are the tastiest.) The next morning we had breakfast on the patio which you look directly onto the beach. The french toast is to DIE for (and is def. worth the splurge of calories). My boyfriend got the pancakes which looked good too and my parents both got eggs which were hot.. The only thing I would say pass on is the ceviche. Its nothing to write home about.

I'll admit that the W seems to be the new "it" spot on Fort Lauderdale beach, but steak 954 is nothing more than your average steakhouse. I'm not a beef eater so this review might be useless to some! What I loved about steak 954 was the ambiance, and the striking jelly fish tank was pretty amazing. The service was typical, nothing out of the ordinary. I would definitely recommend the cocktails here. I had the cortez and it was infused with exotic fruits, it was a pretty sight and tasted great too. I had salmon for dinner, which I thought was bland and did not do any wonders to my palate. My friends had some type of roasted chicken with stuffing that was unusually shaped like french toast, which was by far a lot better than what I ordered. Our side of potatoes were cold, but the taste was okay. Overall I thought for chicken and salmon it was a bit overpriced, around $27 per plate. You are pretty much paying for the ambiance and the stylish decor.

had a great meal right out of the gate... started with the red snapper seviche and the tuna and fois gras tacos. shared the prime strip and miso back cod which were both cooked perfectly. the server needed more work on his food knowledge, the drinks could use more booze, the wine list could use more options...other than that can't wait to go back!

had breakfast here with my girlfriend. the place is beautiful and has a great view of the beach/ocean (there's also a cool jellyfish tank). as a former philly resident, i was familiar with steven starr restaurants and had high expectations for this one... the place was pretty much empty so it was nice (laid back and relaxing). the only issue was how long it took our server to come over and greet us (about 5 minutes). don't think he knew we were there since there was hardly anyone in the place... once he arrived, all was good. he was professional and friendly and the service was good. the real treat was the food. i had the short rib benedict and my lady had the brulee'd oatmeal. the benny was amazing and the eggs were cooked perfect. her oatmeal was also awesome. one of the the better breakfasts we've had in a long time. overall this was a great meal. a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.. yummy, high quality food. definitely worth trying.

Starting with the Beaver Club in the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal back in the late seventies and running through countless meals at Mistral in Boston, and two to die for at Rockpool in Sydney, I have had a lifetime of best meals ever that surpassed those that came before, or at least my memory of them. On the occasion of my husband's 50th birthday in April, four of us went to Steak 954, where, if it was not the best experience overall that I have ever had, it ranked equal to any I can remember. I have delayed in writing this review looking for the charge slip because this review would be incomplete with acknowledging our server "2244 Will," so described on the receipt. His service was as good as any I have ever had, and the members of our party are not known for being undemanding or uncritical. Before one dies, they should have 954's Kobi rib eye and a Vietnamese coffee. I love dining on the terrace, and the jellyfish tank is killer entertaining. Go back at 7 in the morning, have another Vietnamese coffee on the terrace overlooking the ocean, and watch the sun rise. Pure Bliss.

Pure Bliss.
